Alan Stahl

Curator of Numismatics

Alan Stahl holds a PhD in History from University of Pennsylvania, with specialization in Archaeology and Art History. He is the author of ten books and over a hundred articles on aspects of numismatics ranging from ancient through modern coinage, medals and decorations, and paper money. Prior to coming to Princeton in 2004, he was for two decades the Curator of Medieval Coinage and of Medals at the American Numismatic Society. He teaches as a Lecturer in the departments of Art and Archaeology, Classics, and History, and serves as numismatist for several Princeton excavations.
