Firestone Renovation Project

Exterior:

Work will resume on Firestone Plaza on Wednesday June 1, weather permitting. The first activity will be the installation of additional benches like the ones recently installed to outline a walkway coming from East Pyne. Lawn will be planted behind the new benches and the walkway leading to the Chapel. Stone will be installed in the new walkways. The next step will be to continue in this area to remove asphalt in small sections and replace it with stone. The work areas will be caged off. The asphalt removal will be done by jack hammering and scraping. There will be some noise, but it will be intermittent and not as loud as in the previous phase. Work will stop before the Firestone main doors are reached. Work will then begin by the steps going to Washington Road. Again it will be done in small sections and involve installation of stone and some grass. Work will stop before the Firestone main doors. When the area in front of the doors is in progress, access will remain available to the doors. The project will last the entire summer.

A plan of the area is located on an easel in the lobby of Firestone and online as a PDF (2.5 MB). You may contact Dottie Pearson (pearson@princeton.edu or call 8-3215.) at any time during the project if you have questions or concerns.
