Introduction
Welcome to the Preservation Office website. It is a knowledge destination, much the same way a specific reference tool, whether in print or digital form, is a resource for the person needing information about a particular subject.
The chief aim of the Preservation Office is to manage effectively the preservation of all the Princeton University Library's print and non-print collections. Caring for and preserving these collections and making them accessible to you today for tomorrow's students and fellow library users is a communal and cumulative effort. You can inform yourself about this during your visit here.
Our website mixes the ordinary (facts about what the Preservation Office does) with the arcane (book repair and treatment statistics) with the enticing (pictures of treatments from our collections) with the practical (simple instructions on using and handling books).
Should you have any questions or comments about what you have read and seen here, please contact any of us. (Go to the staff page at: http://library.princeton.edu/departments/preservation/po/PO-Staff.html.) We will be happy answer questions, address concerns, and accept good-natured comments and critiques.
So happy you're visiting us. Thanks.
Robert J. Milevski, Preservation Librarian
