What goes where?
Introduction

1.Single orders must be bound

2.Loose issues of periodicals on standing order should be returned to the appropriate "Current issue" location(s) for binding instructions (with the exception under 3. below).

3. Loose issues for locations controlled by the Periodicals Receipts Unit, or Reserve/General Periodicals Services and received on standing order may be arranged for binding by the cataloger or Bibliographic Specialist.

Locations controlled by the Periodicals Receipts Unit:

NR, SC, SSS, SH, SP, RS, SD, SE, SHS, SLAV, SREL

Location controlled by Reserve/General Periodicals Services:

PR, PRNE


Single volume serials

Softbound:
1 PRINTOUT OF OPAC BRIEF SCREEN. Writer MFHD number on printout or binding slip.
Include in piece and put in Prebindery on Softbound single issue serial shelf

Hardbound:
No printout necessary; place on cataloging or prebindery/plating and labeling truck


Multi-unit soft cover serials to be bound

1 PRINTOUT OF OPAC BRIEF SCREEN. Write MFHD number on printout or binding slip.
Include in piece and forward to Cataloging Unit IV, via the Serials Truck in Order Division.


"Current issue" serials being returned to location prior to binding

1 PRINTOUT OF OPAC BRIEF DISPLAY
Include with piece(s) to be forwarded to the "Current issue" location, with note:

New serial title
date/initials

NOTE: If the title is a title change, it is helpful to highlight the appropriate note on the printout.
Place unbound issue(s) in envelope and mail to the appropriate "Current issue" location.


Combination of categories above

When handling a combination of loose issues plus materials to be bound, etc. handle as per instructions for each type of material.
