Corporate names and conference namesIn establishing corporate headings, when elements of hierarchy not included in the heading appear in the source found, include in the data cited all the hierarchy required to justify needed cross references, but do not include elements irrelevant to the particular heading being established. Each element of the hierarchy in a heading or its cross references needs to be established separately.
410 20 San Francisco Widget Research Institute.‡bPersonnel Dept. ‡bEmployee Benefits Division. 670 Top U.S. widget executives benefit packages, 1986:‡bt.p. (San Francisco Widget Research Institute, Personnel Department, Employee Benefits Division)
110 20 San Francisco Widget Research Institute.‡bPersonnel Dept. Record in abbreviated form information such as location of the corporate body and the date of its founding, if available from sources already consulted. Do not consult sources merely to find this information. For conferences, generally record the place and date of the meeting, even if the qualifiers are not included in the heading being established. If information is available on a later form of name of the body being established, establish both headings (if necessary) and link the headings with see-also references (see: 5xx references: Corporate names). If information is available on an earlier form of name of the body being established, search OCLC for the earlier heading. If the earlier name has not been used, cite it in the 670 followed by "[no publs.]" and do not establish the earlier name or make a linking reference to it. If the name has been used, create earlier/later records using the OCLC record as the basis for establishing the earlier heading. (See RI26.3B-C for additional information on earlier/later headings.) |
