Canada

Canadian geographic headings, whether found in Canadian imprints or not, must be established by the National Library of Canada.

Cite your work in the 670 field, as usual. Cite and base your heading on the Canadian CIP heading from your work, if available. If there is no Can. CIP, search for a heading on an NLC AACR2 record in RLIN, or in Amicus, the NLC authority file and base your heading on the heading if found. If the heading is not present in any of these three sources, the Authorities Committee will contact LC for a search of the Canadian authority file.

For the detailed procedure to follow for Canadian headings, and examples of how to cite Canadian information, see Canadian Headings.
