Merged Heading Index (MHI) Searching Hints

Keyword Searching

Many fields are indexed for keyword searching. Some fields can be qualified with superlabels ti, su, or au, where appropriate. See: Fields Indexed in NOTIS

Keyword searches can also be qualified by language, date or type.

See online help in the OPAC for more detailed information, including the use of Boolean operators.

Call Number Searching

The staff mode call number search executes a specific search and gives you a finite result. The OPAC search places you in the index.

Displays in Staff Mode

Single record hit - copy holdings or bibliographic record will display. Multiple hits will result in index and/or guide screens. For each entr in the Index screen, there is a set of parentheses containing the processing unit, and a field number, e.g. (TS 245).
