Cataloging of Unsolicited Titles on Microfilm

When Catalog Division receives a reel of microfilm containing, in addition to the title(s) ordered, further unsolicited title(s), only those title(s) specifically ordered will be cataloged. The Head, Microforms Service will be consulted as to the advisability of physically removing the unwanted title(s) from the reel. Should these title(s) remain on the reel, their presence will be briefly and informally noted on the catalog record(s) for the ordered title(s).

This principle of cataloging only specifically ordered titles can in theory be applied to formats other than microfilm.
