• Nations of the World Basic information on governments, including the constitution, and different branches of government. from the Law Library of Congress
• State Department Background Notes by the U.S. State Department; contains information on all the countries of the world with which the United States has relations.
• EIU Country Profiles and Reports  (1996+)   Background reports covering economic, political, and social conditions of countries.
• CIA World Fact Book Gathers statistics and details on Iraq, including its geography, people, and government, economy and defense forces.

• International Political Science Abstracts  (1989+) Provides abstracts in English or French to articles selected from over 1,000 international journals.
• Worldwide Political Science Abstracts  (1975+) Provides citations and abstracts in political science, including journal articles, books and book chapters, dissertations, and reviews
• International Bibliography of the Social Sciences  (1951+) Provides bibliographic information from an international selection of publications in the fields of economics, political science, sociology, and anthropology.
• PAIS International  (1915+) Provides citations to articles, books, reports, and select government documents on U.S. and international public policy issue. Generally considered to be a comprehensive index to policy literature.
• Armed Conflict Database   Provides figures and summary narratives on both international and internal armed conflicts in the world, whether dormant or active, since about 1960.
• JSTOR full-text scholarly journals; last 3-5 years not available
• PolicyFile  (1990+)   Draws its content from public policy think tanks, university research programs, research organizations, and publishers. Covers all aspects of public policy
