- Nations of the World Basic information on governments, including the constitution, and different branches of government. from the Law Library of Congress
- State Department Background Notes by the U.S. State Depart; contains information on all the countries of the world with which the United States has relations.
- EIU Country Profiles and Reports (1996+) Background reports covering economic, political, and social conditions of countries.
- CIA World Fact Book Gathers statistics and details on Iraq, including its geography, people, & government, economy and defense forces.

EconLit (1969+) Indexes international economic literature. Includes major journals, articles in collective volumes (essays, proceedings, etc.), books, full-text book reviews, dissertations, and working papers.

ABI/INFORM (1971+) Worldwide business periodicals. Provides in-depth coverage of business and economic conditions, management techniques, theory, and practice of business, advertising, marketing, economics, human resources, finance, and taxation.
- International Political Science Abstracts (1989+) Provides abstracts in English or French to articles selected from over 1,000 international journals.
- Worldwide Political Science Abstracts (1975+) Provides citations and abstracts in political science, including journal articles, books and book chapters, dissertations, and reviews
- International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (1951+) Provides bibliographic information from an international selection of publications in the fields of economics, political science, sociology, and anthropology.

FirstGov is the federal government's search engine. Sourcebook
Presents historical statistics about aid programs to all nations from 1946 to date. - USAID Development Experience Clearinghouse (DEC)
Provides full text access to documentation about USAID projects. - The Green Book The U.S. Agency for International Development [USAID]'s publishes the U.S. Overseas Loans and Grants, Obligations and Loan Authorizations.
Non-governmental sources:
- American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC) Serves as an information dissemination mechanism for American and other world leaders. Emphasis is upon the former USSR, developing democracies, and market economies. Links lead to publications and free bulletins that update readers on issues, and current news. AFPC follows a right of center viewpoint.
- Council on Foreign Relations A nonpartisan think tank that investigates foreign policy topics. Locate information by regions; issues; and publications. Publications include background and analysis; task force reports; meeting transcripts.
- Rand A think tank that emphasizes national security, business, health and education, law, and science. Select relevant topics from the Research Areas tab or browse the Reports & Bookstore tab.
- United States Institute of Peace An independent, nonpartisan group that attempts to prevent conflicts and promote post-conflict stability. Select the Publications tab to access thorough and comprehensive documents. Congress established and funds the Institute.

- Northwestern University Library list These are sites for major international organizations.
- University of Michigan Documents CenterThe Documents Center is a central point for government information, whether local, state, federal, foreign or international.

- Many of the resources on the web have not been evaluated by anyone. It is important for you to evaluate sites.
