Major Project Responsibilities
Represent the University Library throughout the Firestone Library Renovation process and coordinate with senior library administrators, library users, library staff, Facilities Management, and other relevant University offices. Review all Firestone construction and renovation documents. Serve as the Library's liaison with a range of University offices, including Facilities Department management and staff, Library staff and maintenance personnel, and external consultants. In conjunction with library staff, develop, implement, and maintain a communication program for the Library staff and the University community.
Characteristic Duties
20% Liaison with the construction management team
- Attend all project meetings
- Coordinate all space access issues for various contractors, architects and other external groups
- Develop a plan to maintain security and access for all Firestone spaces
25% Coordinate and assist planning groups working on renovation tasks, including preparation and monitoring of budgets, for the following:
- Workspace relocations
- Collection relocations
- Prototype development and evaluation
- Access policies and processes for construction personnel
- Collection access
- Maintenance and coordination of internal documents and files
25% Coordinate temporary and permanent work space moves and materials shifts with library staff and external contractors and consultants.
25% Develop, implement, and maintain a communication program about Firestone renovation for the library staff and the University community.
5% Serve as liaison to appropriate campus groups.

Knowledge and Skills for the Position
Five years relevant construction experience (project management or related) and library experience required. Accredited MLS is preferred. Must possess strong project management skills, excellent quantitative, analytical, planning, and writing skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary in order to communicate and work with a wide range of user groups, library and university administrators and staff, and contractors and consultants. Understanding and experience with library operations is essential. An understanding of facilities management and construction operations is important. Must be able to exercise considerable initiative and work independently. Proficiency with microcomputer spreadsheet and related software required.

This position will report to the University Library as a staff position.
Firestone Library is one of the biggest buildings on campus, with 430,000 square feet. It is also one of the most heavily used buildings, and its collections and services are essential to a Princeton education. The Firestone Renovation Project will entail structural repairs, thoroughgoing installation of modern infrastructure, and program re-arrangements. The work will be phased over an 8-year period, during which the library must remain open.
The position is funded through the Firestone Library Renovation capital project budget.
Compensation and Benefits: Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Twenty-four (24) vacation days a year, plus eleven (11) paid holidays. Annuity program (TIAA/CREF), group life insurance, health coverage insurance, disability insurance, and other benefits are available.
Rank: This is an Administrative position, grade ADM 060, 100% duty time.
