Program: Archival Finding Aids and Encoded Archival Description (EAD)

Program Description:

Introduction to Encoded Archival Description (EAD) and Archival Finding Aids

This session will provide an introduction to the Department of Rare Books and Special Collections EAD website.  Finding aids are descriptive inventories created by archival repositories in order to provide access to collections.  EAD, an international metadata standard developed by the archival community, is a form of XML that provides a standard structure for finding aids.

Come listen to a brief introduction to finding aids, archival description, and EAD, tips for navigating and searching finding aids for collections housed in the Manuscripts Division, Princeton University Archives, and Public Policy Papers, and an update on current RBSC EAD projects.
