Questions Asked at Program (email me others if you'd like: sgarwood@princeton.edu)

Q. Would it be possible to have a library of training books/materials available?
A. This is something that I'm looking into. An important aspect of this question is going to revolve around print materials vs. electronic materials that can be printed (it's easier to lose/ruin a traditional book). As Adrianna P. also pointed out, the Library does own many of these types of titles electronically, so it might just be a matter of organizing them so that they're easily "findable". I'm aware that some people learn by reading and I'm also aware that materials will sometimes need to be available in an easily accessible format (e.g. a book on a shelf/handout in a bin rather than a link from a web page), and I'll do my best to accomodate these needs.

Q. What about open computer lab time like the former lunchtime session(s) from a year or so ago? (These were in the electronic classroom)
A. I've heard mixed reviews about this, but it's something I do think has potential, especially with the right mix of helpful people to "staff" a room and good materials to work with. I won't be shy about reviewing programs that had mixed success in the past as I'll always be looking to see what challenges existed and will seek to minimize problems and maximize possibilities. I'm also aware that the electronic classrooms are in high demand, so anything like this will need to be balanced with the needs of other instructional programs.

Q. Will there be training/What kind of training is available on the new (IMAP) email interface?
A. An email about the IMAP changeover sent out on 10.1.08 indicated: "...If you have any questions, please contact Library Systems at lsupport@princeton.edu or the OIT Help Desk at 8-help or helpdesk@princeton.edu, Library Staff who would like assistance learning the new interface and features please contact Steve Garwood, Staff Training and Development Coordinator, at sgarwood@princeton.edu". I wrote it, I'll hold myself to it. If you're stuck and need help, let me know and I'll work with you to get "unstuck", I'll just ask that you help your friends/colleagues get unstuck as well. Supervisors, if you have a group that you think might need assistance and you would like my assistance, please get in touch and we'll work something out, working with groups will help get more people up to speed more quickly.

I have spoken to OIT and though they have no training on this topic in development (I believe they're working on a KnowledgeBase article) I wanted to point out a few things:
