Why do I need to register for seminars, tours, and other training activities?

So we know if the room is big enough
So we know that we have enough handouts
So we know that enough people are interested to actually run the program
Because we often have to pay for internal (OIT) or external presenters/trainers
Because we often need to pay for materials
So that Steve can know how much coffee to bring (to non-hands on workshops)
So we can see who's interested in what topics
So that we can see who's not coming and find out what topics we're not covering that may be of interest to them
