Cotsen in the Classroom

Cotsen in the Classroom is our response to educators who have expressed a keen interest in the special collections at the Cotsen Children's Library. We have two goals: 1) We want to make Cotsen's collections come alive for children in a relevant, dynamic, and innovative manner; and 2) We want to make this program useful and easily accessible to educators.

Our three, K-3 facilitated trunk programs come to your classroom free of charge with a Cotsen staff member. The trunks are self-contained, related to the NJ Core Curriculum Standards, designed to fit within a 45 minute class period, and come with plenty of materials for children to take home.

Please keep in mind that, due to staff limitations, our 2006 pilot programs are accessible to schools and home schools within a 10-mile radius of Princeton University's main campus, serve K-3 aged children, and are limited to one trunk per classroom.

Additionally, we also ask that schools interested in multiple bookings (i.e.- multiple classes and/or grades) coordinate a single school visit to reduce staff travel and increase staff availability to other schools.

We are currently in the process of developing trunk programs for grades 4-6. Please stay tuned for news about our expanded Fall 2007 programs!
