"Most Masterful Cat: The Exploits of Puss in Boots," a Cotsen Children's Library exhibition

Puss in Boots was a star long before Antonio Banderas voiced the fairy tale character in Shrek. The Cotsen Children’s Library will pay tribute to the cat who made a prince of his handsome but dirt-poor owner in this display of illustrated fairy tales from the research collection. Highlights of the display will be the iconic image of Puss by Gustave Doré and the entire suite of prints by Otto Speckter. The work of these great nineteenth-century artists will be paired with modern American picture book classics and some from Europe that deserve to be better known.

The exhibition will be on display from May 21 through August 15, 2018, in the Cotsen Children's Library (entrance located in the lobby of Firestone Library). It is open to the public and can be visited during library open hours.
