Printing Policy

Effective October 15, 2009, a printing quota system will go into effect. The Library and OIT have met with various groups and administrators to come up with a system that will reduce the printing on campus as well as meet both sustainability and economic goals.

Patrons who have an access or borrowers card issued from the Access Office will be able to apply for a printing login and password. The login and password will expire on the expiry date on the library card.  Quotas and passwords will not be automatically renewed on an annual basis.  Therefore it is the responsibility of the card holder to come to the access office and renew as necessary.  Printing will be limited to 50 sheets a week, 200 sheets a month and shall not exceed 2,100 sheets a year.

Printing in the Library

  1. Queue your job to print.  You will get a popup screen asking for a userid.  Users should enter their netid.  All campus users have a netid and password assigned to them by OIT.  If you have purchased access, the Access Office staff will issue you an id and password.  Users will have to enter a mandatory job password after entering their netid.  This password can be as simple as 123.

  2. After you have queued the jobs you want to print you need to go to a print release station.  You can use any print release station in any Library to release your job.  The stations usually have the screen saver on just move the mouse to clear the screen.  Enter your netid and password.  You will see a popup message informing you how many pages that you have printed to date.  When you hit enter or click “ok” to acknowledge this message, you will see a list of the jobs you have sent to the print queue.  You should highlight the job(s) you wish to print by clicking on the.  Then click the “print” button in the lower-right hand corner.  At this point you will be prompted for the job password.  This is the password that you entered when you queued the job to be sent to the printer.

  3. The entire process takes only a few seconds to execute.  Pages will double-sided per sheet

**Please note:  Users cannot delete jobs that have not been sent to the printer.  However, any job that has not been printed will automatically expire after 4 hours in the queue.
