Printing in the Library: Basic Instructions

Instructions:

From a Windows machine:

  • After you select "print" in the print dialog box for your document, a Pharos print menu will pop up.
  • Enter your netID and a print job password (note: this does not have to match your Princeton netID password and can be as simple as 123).
  • Go to the PHAROS Print Release Station, and type in your netID and netID password.
  • At the Release station, highlight your document and click print. You will then enter your print job password.

From a Macintosh

  • Connect to \firedom either from PRINCETON or a LIBSTAFF registered machine with a valid Princeton netID or Libstaff username.
  • You will see a list of shares. Print queues are displayed as shares.
  • Select the WalkinHP queue and use this queue as your printer.
  • Submit your print job.
  • Go to the PHAROS Print Release Station, and type in your netID and netID password.
  • At the Release station highlight your document and click print. You will then enter your print job password.

The entire process typically takes only a few seconds to execute. Large, memory-intensive files (images, PDFs, etc.) may take longer. Pages will print double-sided by default.

Please note: Users cannot delete jobs that have been sent to the printer; however, any job that has not been printed will automatically expire after 4 hours in the queue.

Please report all problems to lsupport@princeton.edu; be sure to include the location and name of the printer.
