Audio/Video Editing

The Video Library has software that can help faculty with audio editing and creation, video editing (including adding and creating subtitles for videos), for Mac and Window platforms. We have the following software to help with such tasks: iSkysoft, iMovie, Windows MovieMaker, MPEGStreamClip, Any Video Converter, SubsFactory, Audacity.

The Lab

The Video Library has the ability to play a  DVD, Blu-Ray or VHS tape from anywhere in the world.  The lab is equipped with:

  • 4 - Dell Optiplex Window computers
  • 4 - 27" iMac's
  • 4 - AOC 22” multi-function monitors
  • 8 - Panasonic AG-W3 multi-region VHS players
  • 8 - Denon multi-region DVD players
  • 2 -Pioneer DVL-919 laser disc/DVD players
  • Sony HS-90 headsets with microphone

Collaboration Area

Video library meeting roomThe Collaboration Area fulfills two functions, a small formal meeting area and a viewing room for film. This area has the following equipment available.

  • Samsung 52” display
  • Sony Blu-Ray/DVD Player
  • Panasonic AG-W3 Multi-region VHS player
  • MacMini
  • HDMI laptop connection

The Collaboration Area is available during the Video Library's operating hours. To schedule time in the room is on a first come first serve basis.


Foreign Language Television

Princeton University now subscribes to SCOLA which features 8 on-line foreign language channels. To see the current schedule click on SCOLA and select “World TV On-Line”. The option of downloading programs to your computer is also available. Using the built-in “Video Editor” you can create a clip and save it to your computer to show only a portion of the program downloaded. SCOLA also contains a gallery of images from around the world that can be downloaded.

The following channels are available 24x7.

Text Recognition

The Video Library can provide support and software for working with digital versions of text using the software ABBYY FineReader.
