Feb. 11, 2014 New graduate study spaces, stack areas, and the grand 3rd Floor Reading Room are now open as this phase of the Firestone renovation is complete. Firestone's 2nd and 3rd floors are now light-filled study spaces, decked out with new carrels, mid-century modern study furniture, and new shelving. Included in the newly-renovated 3rd Floor of Firestone Library is the Classics Graduate Study Room. Occupying the north-east corner of the floor the new space provides assigned study desks for thirty graduate students and a separate room for unassigned users. The space also houses an extensive reference collection, shelved by size in two integrated call number runs (the location code for the new space is SC; SCG, SCL and SCP are now obsolete). The Study Room enjoys natural light on two sides as well as the immediate proximity of the circulating CLAS collection. Students and faculty are unanimous in their praise of both the plan and execution of this spectacular renovation. The philosophy collection has moved back to the 3rd floor, and both the religion collection and the Religion Graduate Study Room are in their new permanent home on the 2nd floor. Please see the revised floor maps for the 2nd and 3rd Floors. For the full details on navigating your way in Firestone see "Using the Firestone Floor Plans".
