Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library, home to the Princeton University Archives and a collection of 20th-century public policy papers, will temporarily close from March 2020 through January 2021 to undergo a renovation.

Constructed in 1976, the building, which is open to the public, will remain closed throughout the project. But Mudd Library’s collections will be made available to patrons in Firestone Library’s Special Collections Reading Room, located on C floor. The renovation, which will upgrade the library’s first floor and internal systems, requires the relocation of nearly 40,000 linear feet of collection material. 

In March 2020, Mudd’s public services will be extremely limited for six to eight weeks in order to safely move the library’s collections to an off-site storage facility. New digitization requests will be not be accepted at that time. Once service resumes in Firestone Library, anticipated for late May 2020, researchers will need to request materials with 72 business hours’ notice.
