In a surprise announcement during his portrait unveiling, United States Senator, Olympic gold medalist, NBA and Ivy League champion, and Princeton University alum and former trustee William “Bill” Bradley, Class of 1965, said that the Senate sections of his papers would be opened immediately for use.

“Scholars will now have a bonanza of material to review,” said University Archivist and Deputy Head of Special Collections Dan Linke. “Bradley's contributions to the many issues that he worked on—and that have continuing relevance today—can now be incorporated into the historical narrative.”

Housed at the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library, Bradley’s papers were originally scheduled to be opened on December 20, 2032. In addition to his administrative and legislative records, correspondence, and photographs, the files also include memorabilia and personal writings, which will open as previously scheduled in 2032.

“His expertise and involvement on economic, environmental, and international issues such as income tax reform, the Seven State Compact on the Colorado River, and US-Soviet relations are just some examples of his impact,” said Linke. “In addition, Princeton students now have a great resource for senior theses and doctoral dissertations.
