Written by Stephanie Oster Aug. 11, 2024 Digital Scholarship Services (DiScho) at Princeton University Library invites applications to attend our inaugural "Digital Scholarship Foundations" training program. The program consists of a series of workshops on methods that will benefit digital scholarship practitioners. They will leave the program having developed their own project or proof of concept. Our fall program is centered around websites to develop fundamental skills necessary for successful digital projects. We’ll look under the hood of a website to demystify the anatomy of the web and explore how to build critical and sustainable projects. Participants will attend four workshops and use common digital tools and methods as they construct their own website. During these sessions we will learn about version control, metadata, web publishing, and more. Participants are encouraged to bring their research materials to the workshop so that they can produce something that they can continue to develop. One's workshop output may be, but not limited to, any of the following: digital exhibit; professional website; oral history collection; multimedia web essay; blog. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend optional “office hours” to troubleshoot issues and seek individual support as they customize their project. While this is open to all, we expect this will be of particular interest to graduate students, postdocs, and research staff who wish to excel at developing and maintaining digital projects. No prior experience or training is required. And we welcome anyone needing a refresher course or looking to deepen their skills.Workshops will be held from 10:30am to noon on September 18, October 2, October 30, and November 13.Please complete an application to join us for Digital Scholarship Foundations.
