Bio/Description

Bryan Winston is a digital humanist and historian with expertise in data curation, visualization, and digital storytelling. Since receiving his Ph.D. at Saint Louis University, Winston has contributed to a number of digital and public humanities projects. As the inaugural postdoctoral fellow and project manager for the Dartmouth Digital History Initiative, Winston led a team in the creation of open-source tools that make oral histories more searchable and accessible. He was also the Associate Director for two oral history projects, Dartmouth Vietnam Project and Dartmouth Black Lives, where he was responsible for training students in the theory and practice of oral history and digital storytelling. In addition, Winston has pursued projects related to his expertise in immigration history, such as his digital public history project, "Mapping the Mexican Midwest," which visualizes early-twentieth century Midwestern Mexican communities, institutions, and regional networks.
