Naver News Library 1920-1999

Digital archive of 4 major news papers in South Korea: Kyonghyang Sinmun, Tonga Ilbo, Maeil Kyongje, and Han'gyore. Images and electronic texts are available with full-text search.

KSDC DB 1925+

Collection of Korean Geography, Customs and History DB

A collection of 400 volumes on geography, customs and history of Korea published by the Governor-General of Korea between the late Chosen period and 1945. Searchable text and images are in Japanese.

Colonial Period Korea Online

Collection of rare books and documents relating to the Japanese occupation of Korea, from the late nineteenth century up to 1945, mostly in Korean, Japanese, and English. Individual titles are listed in the library catalog.


Full-text of many major national and regional newspapers, including the full-text of the Wall Street Journal, Barron's, and the Nikkei Weekly. Some titles are abstracted only. Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) Daily Reports

Translation service of the U.S. Government, usually attributed to the Central Intelligence Agency. It covered political, military, economic, environmental and sociological news and commentary, as well as scientific and technical information.

Harvard Korean Studies Bibliography

This closed database contains references to almost 50,000 articles, over 17,000 books, 4,000 book sections, 7,000 theses, and 4,000 reviews from the late 16th century to 1997, the majority of which are in English; other languages written using the Latin alphabet are also included.

Compilation of travelogues written by Korean envoys that traveled to China between 13th and 19th centuries.

Yūhō Bunko

Archival collection of rare and highly valuable materials related to the Chōsen Sōtoku-fu (Government General of colonial Korea). The collection includes official documents, publications, memos and handwritten reports brought by officials of the former Chōsen Sōtoku-fu, who were principles in determining the policies of the rule of Korea.
