General information

In general, three questions should be considered first to determine the treatment required in cataloging a photoreproduction:

  • Does the photoreproduction represent a work which is new to the PUL collections or does it represent a version of a previously cataloged title?
  • Is the photoreproduction an original edition of a work or a copy of a previously existing work?
  • If the photoreproduction is a microform, what is its generation: service copy, master printing copy or master preservation copy?
Look under definitions to determine cataloging treatment of a microform or photocopy.
