006 Fixed-Length Data Elements: General Information and Policies
The 006 was introduced to allow for additional fixed length data elements not provided for in the various types of materials formats. With the new definition of m for computer files, the only significant use of this field is to express seriality, e.g. when cataloging a score that is also a serial.

Princeton policy will be only to use the 006 to express seriality in a format lacking serials fixed fields. If any other 006 field is used on LC or member copy, remove the field by deleting the values in it.

Accompanying Material

Princeton will not use the 006 field to record additional material characteristics of accompanying material.
If the 006 field is used on LC or member copy to describe accompanying material, remove the field by deleting the values in it.
