006 Fixed-Length Data Elements: General Information and PoliciesThe 006 was introduced to allow for additional fixed length data elements not provided for in the various types of materials formats. With the new definition of m for computer files, the only significant use of this field is to express seriality, e.g. when cataloging a score that is also a serial.
![]() Princeton policy will be only to use the 006 to express seriality in a format lacking serials fixed fields. If any other 006 field is used on LC or member copy, remove the field by deleting the values in it.
![]() Accompanying Material Princeton will not use the 006 field to record additional material characteristics
of accompanying material. |
