Beatrix Potter

14.  Beatrix Potter, author/illustrator.
The Tale of Jemima Puddle-duck.
London, New York: Frederick Warne & Co., 1908.

Jemima Puddleduck's troubles begin when she determines to hatch her eggs herself instead of letting the farmer's wife give them to a hen. Could Potter have had Dearmer's illustration in mind when she drew the famous picture of the duck dressed in an awkwardly fitting shawl and dowdy blue poke bonnet looking for a place to make a nest?
