Auction catalogs at Princeton

One can search for individual sales by title in the library catalog, or search by keyword, e.g. Christies London. The Special Collections Division in Firestone has many runs of catalogs that may need to be requested from off-site, and are typically book, map, manuscript and numismatic sales, whereas Marquand tends to have the art sales (on- and off-site). Marquand has many auction catalogs going back to the 1820s, but recent runs are not at all complete and are mostly gifts from the Princeton University Art Museum. Current holdings are accessible via the Sales Catalogs page, which includes Christie's, Sotheby's, Parke Bernet, Hotel Drouot, Swann, Phillips, and Bonhams.  Please ask us about older catalogs from many auction houses, as we have many boxes currently off-site (contents listed on an in-house card file). For catalogs not owned by the Princeton University Library, one may verify catalog details by searching SCIPIO and then placing an interlibrary loan request by supplying the OCLC accession number at the bottom of the record.
