Alan Stahl, Curator of Numismatics
Alan Stahl holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Pennsylvania with specialization in Archaeology and Art History. He is the author of ten books and over 100 articles on aspects of numismatics, ranging from ancient through modern coinage, medals, decorations, and paper money. Prior to coming to Princeton University in 2004, he was, for two decades, the Curator of Medieval Coinage and of Medals at the American Numismatic Society. He teaches as a Lecturer in the departments of Art & Archaeology, Classics, and History and serves as numismatist for several Princeton excavations.
