Last Friday, we participated in the first meeting of the Rare Materials Ontology subgroup, along with partners from Columbia and Cornell as well as from the RBMS Bibliographic Standards Committee (BSC). We are currently formulating use cases (descriptions related to how people will likely want to interact with our data) to help evaluate the applicability of existing ontologies (which we would prefer to use) versus the need to create extensions.
