Princeton University Professor Thomas Conlan and Japanese Studies Librarian Setsuko Noguchi uncovered documents from Sakuramotobō, a famous temple in Yoshino, Nara prefecture, that lost its records in 1868 after the Japanese government declared them to be a heretical set.
