About Preservation and Conservation

Preservation and Conservation partner with staff throughout the Princeton University Library and beyond to ensure that the Library’s collections are in serviceable condition now and remain accessible over time.  We approach this task by taking holistic actions to extend the longevity of collections as a whole and by providing services for the care, repair, exhibition, and reformatting of individual items. Preservation and Conservation serve as stewards and advocates for the Library’s collections, but ultimately, preservation is collaborative; all staff and patrons have a hand in caring for collections.
