Access to Physical CollectionsIf there is material in the stacks that you are unable to reach, please visit the circulation desk or main service desk at any library location and we will be happy to assist you. ParkingStreet meters are monitored by the town of Princeton, not the university. If you have a handicap placard or license plate, you do not need to feed the meter or leave after the allotted time specified on the meter. Princeton Transportation and Parking Services has additional information about parking on campus as well as maps of accessible paths and entrances. Service AnimalsPrinceton University Libraries allow service animals that meet the university’s definition. If you are a student, staff, or faculty member, please contact the Office of Disability Services. If you are a visitor, please bring the proper documentation with you. Accessibility Information by Library Architecture Library Entering the BuildingThe Architecture Library is located on the second floor of the Architecture Building, at the south end of the building. No door push buttons are available within the building. If you need assistance to enter the library, please contact us at (609) 258-3256.ElevatorsElevator access to the second floor is available; the elevator is adjacent to the library entrance. Accessing the Physical CollectionThe shelves of the Architecture Library are spaced at ADA-compliant aisle widths, and no floor grade changes are present in the space. Some materials are located on tall shelves; staff members can assist in retrieving items from upper shelves for patrons. Princeton faculty, students, and staff can request for materials to be paged to the Circulation Desk of the Architecture Library using the “Request” button in the Library Catalog. Physical SpaceThe Architecture Library offers a variety of seating options, including tables, carrels, and soft seating. Carrel and table heights are not adjustable.RestroomsAll restrooms in the Architecture Building are located outside of the library. Gender-neutral restrooms are located on the ground floor of the Architecture Building, accessible via the elevator or the stairs. Accessible restrooms are located on the ground floor and first floor of the Architecture Building. Non-accessible, gender-specific restrooms are located on the second floor of the Architecture Building. East Asian Library Entering the BuildingThe entrance to the East Asian Library is located on the second floor of the Frist Campus Center. ElevatorsThe elevator located within the East Asian Library is not accessible to the public, however staff are able to assist patrons with its use if the need arises. Wheelchair AccessSome parts of the East Asian Library that are located in Jones Hall are not wheelchair accessible. Please see a staff member if you need assistance. Engineering Library Entering the BuildingThe Engineering Library is located on the A floor of Fine Hall. Elevator access is through Lewis Library, Fine Hall, or McDonnell Hall. Push buttons to open all doors are available at all Lewis Library entrances and the main entrances of Fine and McDonnell Hall. Members of Princeton University who have registered with the Office of Disability Services have access to the collections via the Taplin Elevator located in the Collaboration Hub of the Engineering Library in Fine Hall. An access card is available from the Fine Circulation Desk for others who wish to use the elevator to access the collections. Princeton faculty, students, and staff can have materials paged to the Circulation Desk in Fine Hall using the blue Request button in the Library Catalog. Physical SpaceFine Hall offers a wide variety of seating options, including tables, carrels, soft seating, and adjustable height desks. Designated no-talking zones include the 3rd,and 4th floor of Lewis Library.RestroomsThere are two gender-neutral restrooms on the A floor of Lewis, located opposite the elevators. Additional wheelchair accessible restrooms are located in Fine Hall and throughout Lewis Library.Relaxation StationThe Relaxation Station located on the B floor provides a calming environment to unwind with puzzles, coloring, and a weighted blanket. Firestone Library Entering the BuildingAccess to Firestone Library is through the courtyard on campus next to the chapel. You will find push buttons to open the front doors. The doors are quite heavy and if you find you need assistance because the button does not work, please contact the Access Office at (609) 258-5737 and we will be happy to assist you. Once you enter Firestone Library there is a turnstile. If you use a mobility device the public safety officer will hold the turnstile as you pass through. Accessing the Physical CollectionIf you are a Princeton student, faculty, or staff member, you can use the book paging service available through the library catalog and items will be retrieved and delivered to the desk. Assistive TechnologyThere is a magnifying reader on A-floor in a carrel next to the A-6-F classroom. Physical SpaceFirestone Library offers a wide variety of seating options, including table seating, carrels, soft seating, and standing desks. Designated no-talking zones include the Trustee Reading Room on the first floor and the Elfers Reading Room on the third floor. ElevatorsFirestone Library has two elevators. They are located behind the central staircase, just beyond the Information Desk, adjacent to the faculty-authored books collection. RestroomsThere are two gender-neutral restrooms in the lobby just to the right after entering the building. Both are wheelchair accessible. Likewise, there are restrooms on every floor of the library and each is equipped with a stall that will accommodate a wheelchair and doors that swing out. There are two additional gender-neutral restrooms on C-floor.DiningThe Tiger Tea Room is located on the first floor. It offers cafe-style food such as sandwiches, salads, yogurt, fruit, and pastries as well as tea, coffee, and cold beverages. All food must be consumed in the Tiger Tea Room. Covered beverages are allowed elsewhere in the library. Lactation RoomThere is a lactation room located in the staff section of B-floor. If you would like to use the room please make a reservation and ask for assistance at the Information Desk on the first floor. Lewis Science Library Entering the BuildingAccess to Lewis Library is through the Lewis Library Building Atrium. There are three entrances to the building located on the North, East, and West sides of the building. You will find push buttons to open all entrance doors. Mendel Music Library Entering the LibraryMendel Music Library is located on the first floor of the Woolworth Center for Music. Please note that there are no push buttons on the exterior doors of Woolworth or the doors at the entrance to Mendel. If you need assistance with opening the doors, call us at 609-258-3230.ElevatorsThe elevator requires a key for operation, but everyone is welcome to use it. To get the key, please visit the circulation desk.RestroomsThere are no restrooms inside the Mendel Music Library. The nearest restrooms are located on the first floor of the Woolworth, outside the library.Quiet RoomA quiet room is available on the basement floor of Woolworth. This room is first come, first served, and it locks from the inside for privacy. Mudd Manuscript Library Entering the BuildingThe entrance to the Seeley G. Mudd Manuscript Library is located on Shapiro Walk, which is located halfway down the block on Olden Street between Prospect Avenue and William Street. The entrance has a ramp and the door has a push button which opens the outer door and vestibule door. Physical SpaceThe L-shaped front desk at Mudd Library is wheelchair accessible on both sides. A water fountain, including bottle filler, is located in the lobby. The exhibition space is in alignment with ADA regulations.RestroomsFour gender-neutral restrooms are located in the lobby of Mudd Library, which is open to the public. Two of these restrooms are accessible. Access to the CollectionsThe collections at Mudd Library do not circulate. All collection materials are available to view in the reading room. The reading room door does not have a push button, but complies with ADA regulations. Three reading room desks can be modified to be sitting or standing. Lamps are located at each reading room desk. Stokes Library Entering the BuildingAccess to Stokes Library is through the 1st floor of Wallace Hall. Doors can be opened by waving your hand in front of the sensor. If you find you need assistance, please contact the Stokes Library at (609) 258-5455 and we will be happy to assist you. The library is also accessible via the Patio located at the bottom of an outdoor stairwell on the right side of the building.Assistive TechnologyVisitor computer terminals and a large format scanner are both available across from the Stokes Circulation desk.Physical SpaceStokes Library offers a wide variety of seating options, including table seating, carrels, soft seating, and adjustable-height standing desks. Stokes also has two reservable group study rooms and a reservable classroom. Designated no-talking zones include the reading room and the study carrels. RestroomsThere are two gendered, wheelchair accessible restrooms outside the library on the lower level of Wallace Hall. An all-gender restroom is located on the third floor.
