Driven by emerging practices in digital scholarship and publishing as well as campus demand for preservation, access, and scholarly content publication, the Princeton University Library Open Access Publishing Program (POAPP) provides a suite of services to help Princeton faculty, researchers, students, and staff create high quality, peer-reviewed, and open access scholarly publications. 

About the Program

Offering more open terms and less financial barriers than traditional publishing models, POAPP supports new forms of scholarship, complements teaching and learning initiatives, promotes diversity and inclusion in academic publishing, and drives innovation and reform in academic publishing. In alignment with PUL’s mission, the program aims to steward and provide access to outstanding information resources. 

POAPP provides: 

  • Electronic hosting
  • Technical training and support in hosting platform
  • ISSN and/or E-ISSN application
  • Persistent unique identifier assignment (e.g. ARK and/or DOI)
  • Consultation on indexing and discovery
  • Consultation on copyright-related topics (e.g. author agreement and journal copyright policy)
  • Digital preservation
