Max Werner papers

Consists of selected papers of Werner. Included are notes, outlines, and chapter drafts for a projected book on the international military, political, and strategic problems arising from World War II and the post-war period, positing the thesis that in the event of a world conflict with atomic weapons neither Russia nor the United States could win. With a working title of THE NEW BALANCE OF POWER, most of the material concerns military issues. Also present are copies of his syndicated column (1948-1949), \The Course of the World,\ articles, bibliographies, and a large file of newspaper clippings used as source material.
