  • Harold Gardiner Bowen Papers

    Consists of selected papers of Vice-Admiral Bowen including speeches, articles, documents, printed matter, and manuscripts for his book Ships, Machinery, and Mossbacks, The Autobiography of a Naval Engineer (Princeton, N.J.: Princeton University Press, 1954). The papers primarily refer to his various activities as director of the Naval Research Laboratory (1939-1942), special assistant to the Secretary of the Navy (1939-1947), chief of the Office of Naval Research (1946-1947), and executive secretary of the Thomas Alva Edison Foundation.

  • American Civil Liberties Union Records: Subgroup 2

    These Records document the activities of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in protecting individual rights between 1947 and 1995. The collection contains correspondence, clippings, court documents, memoranda, printed matter, minutes, reports, briefs, legal files, exhibit materials, and audio-visual materials.

  • Joseph Coy Green Papers

    This collection consists mainly of papers of Joseph Coy Green (Princeton Class of 1908) relating to his government positions: as an official in the Department of State including his appointment as special representative to the International Institute of Agriculture in Rome (1931), chairman of the Armaments Commission (1944-1946), member of the U.S. Mission to observe the elections in Greece (1946), director of the Foreign Service Board of Examiners, and ambassador to Jordan (1952-1953).

  • Philip A. Crowl Collection on John Foster Dulles

    Crowl's Collection on John Foster Dulles is composed of Crowl's research materials for an unwritten biography on Dulles, including photocopies of correspondence, oral histories, and other materials about Dulles's entire career, as well as his family and personal life. The correspondence is between Dulles and politicians, government officials, and leaders of governments throughout the world, and concerned citizens in the United States, on a variety of issues related to his service to the United States government.

  • Bernard Flexner Papers

    Contains the personal papers of Flexner, including diaries and letters to his sister Mary while he served with the American Red Cross Commission to Romania (1917) and as counsel for the Zionist delegation to the Paris Peace Conference (1918-1919); material concerning Albert Einstein, Franklin D.

  • William Starr Myers Papers

    The William Starr Myers Papers document his teaching career and published works, and include diaries, drafts, notes, lectures, correspondence, printed material, photographs, and scrapbooks. Myers' work as a professor, examples of Myers' professional involvement, and areas of focus are evident throughout the collection. Myers' areas of study include the Republican Party, New Jersey history, and Far East Asian politics.

  • Don Oberdorfer Papers

    This collection contains transcripts of interviews conducted by Oberdorfer with both Soviet and American foreign policy officials about events occurring between 1983 and 1990, as well as records detailing those events.

  • American Civil Liberties Union Records: Subgroup 1, The Roger Baldwin Years

    The American Civil Liberties Union Records, The Roger Baldwin years, document the activities of the ACLU from 1917 through 1950. The files contain materials on conscientious objection, freedom of speech, academic and religious freedom, censorship, labor rights, the Espionage Act of 1917, political demonstrations, political propaganda, the Ku Klux Klan and other patrioteering organizations, mob violence, racism, lynching, and other civil liberty issues. Materials include correspondence and newspaper clippings.

  • John Van Antwerp MacMurray Papers

    Consists of public and personal papers of MacMurray (Princeton Class of 1902) and his father, Junius Wilson MacMurray (1843-1898), but the collection primarily relates to MacMurray's diplomatic career as assistant secretary of state (1924-1925), minister to China (1925-1929) and Turkey (1936-1942), chairman (1937-1938) of the Joint Preparatory Committee on Philippine Affairs, and chairman (1933-1938) of the International Wheat Advisory Committee. Included are MacMurray's correspondence and related papers concerning State Dept.
