World War I

Consists of papers of Poillon mainly related to the Philippine Islands where Poillon was stationed (1899-1906) as a lieutenant with the U.S. 14th Cavalry. Included are typed translations of Jesuit letters (1885-1886) from missions on Mindanao; articles and notes on the history, customs, and folklore of the Moro Indians; diaries (1906-1911); Poillon's two reports, \A Report on the Celebes Islands\ (1906) and \A Report on the Colonial Army of the Netherlands Indies\ (1906); notebooks of clippings concerning the Philippine Islands and his commanding officer General Tasker H.

Consists of selected papers of Vandewater (Princeton Class of 1907) relating to his participation (1918-1919) as a captain in the 160th Infantry Brigade of the 80th Division of the American Expeditionary Forces in France where they were attached to British Army forces. Included are dispatches, operation reports, battlefield orders and instructions, personnel lists, recommendations for meritorious service awards, and reports concerning the battles at Arras, St. Mihiel, Meuse Argonne, and Bethincourt.

Consists of the papers of Bullard, chronicling the major world political and economic events of World War I and its aftermath.

The collection contains annual reports, minutes, records of account, promotional pamphlets and several news clippings praising the work of the ACDF. A report by an unknown author chronicles the establishment of École de Scoutisme, and recommends facilitating “the scout movement of France.” Approximately half of the collection consists of the correspondence (1920-1926) of ACDF treasurer Alexander C. Humphreys. The letters and telegrams document exchanges between Humphreys and several members of the Executive Committee (especially Chairman Anne Morgan) on funds allocation.

The Woodrow Wilson Collection consists of Wilson holdings which have been acquired by the Princeton University Library Department of Special Collections gradually over many years by purchase and gifts from many sources. The collection is rich in material prior to Wilson's presidential years, although it is not limited to this period; researchers will find materials documenting both the public and private life of Woodrow Wilson.

These Records document the activities of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) in protecting individual rights between 1947 and 1995. The collection contains correspondence, clippings, court documents, memoranda, printed matter, minutes, reports, briefs, legal files, exhibit materials, and audio-visual materials.

The collection contains Hard's files for a planned book on the League of Nations fight, which include voluminous correspondence, notes, typescripts, articles, speeches, articles, and supplementary materials. Correspondence files include drafts of conversations with Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, and other prominent personalities. Notes and typescripts contain the book outline and typed chapters; reference notes on various issues including the League Fight, Versailles Treaty and the World Court.

Consists of approximately 1000 pen-and-ink drawings for cartoons which Walker published in Life magazine between 1894 and 1922. Walker’s images touch on topics including the presidencies of Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, the invasion of the Philippines, the rise of the railroads, voting rights, political corruption, isolationism, xenophobia, World War I, women’s rights, child labor, strikes, and colonialism. Walker’s largest topic of satire revolved around domestic political policy. The melting pot theory became a major area of Walker’s exploration.

The American Civil Liberties Union Records, The Roger Baldwin years, document the activities of the ACLU from 1917 through 1950. The files contain materials on conscientious objection, freedom of speech, academic and religious freedom, censorship, labor rights, the Espionage Act of 1917, political demonstrations, political propaganda, the Ku Klux Klan and other patrioteering organizations, mob violence, racism, lynching, and other civil liberty issues. Materials include correspondence and newspaper clippings.

Contains pamphlets published in Europe during and immediately after World War I. They
cover a broad range of topics including the economy, the press, the military, arms,
territorial disputes, and others. The collection also includes speeches, sermons,
bulletins, calendars, and songbooks.
