For particulars refer to: Alfred L. Bush and Robert S. Fraser. American Indian Periodicals in the Princeton University Library. (Princeton, New Jersey, 1970) [(ExB) 04041.736], which is an alphabetical list of 271 titles with holdings. Another 108 titles were added in the six months following the appearance of the above list, (i.e. 379 titles). The Princeton University Library catalog also lists a digital version of the 1979 expanded list which contains a total of 676 entries.

Princeton's holdings are listed in the 1986 publication: Daniel F. Littlefield and James W. Parins, American Indian and Alaska Native Newspapers and Periodicals (New York: Greenwood Press, 1986) [(WA) PN4883 .L57 1983 and (F) PN4883 .L57 1983].

Many newspapers are stored off-site at ReCAP. All those catalogued are accessible through the reading room at Firestone of the Department of Special Collections.

Clearwater Publishing Company published a microfiche series of American Indian newspapers largely based on the holdings of the Princeton collections. These can be found by searching the online catalogue by doing a keyword search for the following: American Indian periodicals in the Princeton University Library, Clearwater Pub. Co.

Some sense of the Library's holdings can be obtained by using 'Advanced Search' in the Catalog and searching as SUBJECTS 'periodicals' and 'indians of north america.'   In a number of cases, detailed inventories of issues held are available.  See http://libweb2.princeton.edu/rbsc2/wa_per/
