During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, several star atlases, beautifully engraved and printed, were published in Europe. The constellations and the brightest stars were represented in classical Greek fashion, as heroes and heroines, animals, and other familiar objects. These two maps show the sky in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The tables on either side are of stellar magnitudes.
