Non-roman scriptsIf a geographic entity is located in a country whose language is written in a non-roman script, base the heading on the systematically romanized form of the name from a source in the original script. Consult GEOnet or a recently published gazetteer just as for any other geographic name, and cite the form found. If the form found in your reference source differs with LC's policy for the romanization of that language, use the LC form of romanization in the heading. You may add a cross reference from the form found in the reference source. |
