Physical Treatment

Write the call number (see examples below) on the label of the videocassette or DVD using a “Sharpie” permanent marker. Also write P.U.L. at the bottom of the label. If there is no label on a videocassette, or if the label is too dark for the marking to show, write on the clear plastic window to the left or right of the label. For DVD’s with dark labels, write on the clear strip surrounding the center hole.

Discard any printed advertising that is included inside the case. If you are not sure if the insert is an advertisement or not, leave the insert in the DVD case.

For placement of barcodes on DVDs check here.

Take cataloged videorecordings to the proper shelf in Plating & Labeling, where they will be labeled and sent to their location.
