This engraving reproduces a set of ten miniature portraits of Louis XIV mounted on a gilt bronze sculpture of a palm tree hung with laurels and military trophies. The king is shown from age 5 to age 60. The royal profiles resemble those struck on the obverse of coins and medals.

Graphic Arts Collection. Acquired by Princeton in 1886 in an exchange with the Bibliothèque nationale (Paris). John S. Pierson, Class of 1840, effected the exchange, recorded by the BN as “Double échangé” no. 907.
