DANTE ALIGHIERI (1265-1321)

  • The Library received 160 volumes consisting of editions of Dante's works and books about him, the gift of Miss Henrietta Getty Ricketts (1858-1955). (Miss Ricketts was born in Elkton, MD, and moved to Princeton ca. 1880s with her widow mother, and two brothers who were enrolled at Princeton.  She remained living in town, chiefly on Library Place, until her death in 1955.  She was a friend of Woodrow Wilson.)

Included are two 15th-century editions of the Divine Comedy (Venice, 1477; Florence, 1481). All books have been catalogued and are accessible through records in the public catalogue.
