What is the ArticleExpress Service?

ArticleExpress is an electronic document delivery service available to current members of the Princeton University community.

Who can use the service?

The service is available to all current members of the Princeton University Community. Some restrictions may apply depending on the locations of materials.

What types of material can I request?

The materials available for the service include journal/magazine/newspaper articles, book chapters or selections, conference proceedings papers, and other materials which can be copied following the U.S. Copyright Law.

How long it will take to get an item through ArticleExpress?

Most items will be delivered within 72 hours. Some requests may take longer depending on the location of the items.

How many requests can I make a day?

There is no limit of the number of requests one can submit. However, library staff reserve the right to limit the number of requests processed per day per patron, depending on available resources and overall number of requests received.

How can I receive the items?

When an item is ready, you will receive an email which includes a link. Once you log on to the ArticleExpress system, click the “Electronically Received Article” link under “View” menu. Then you will see the list of items available for you. The items are all in PDF format; you can download, print or read them online.

Can I request items from the materials held in ReCAP?

No. All materials located in ReCAP must be requested from ReCAP directly. See more information at Initiating a ReCAP request.

Can I request a copy of an entire journal issue or book?

No. ArticleExpress service is being provided in accordance with U.S. Copyright Law and Guidelines. Certain limitations may apply on the number of pages or articles/chapters you can receive.

As a teaching faculty can I request articles to be used for my class?

No. The service provided through ArticleExpress is only for personal research use. If you wish to obtain an item for your class, please use the Course Reserve Service. For more information, please visit Course Reserve Service.
