Visitor Access & Borrowing

Visitor Access to Princeton University Library

Princeton University Library welcomes visitors to use its collections on-site. For the purposes of library access, a visitor is considered anyone who does not hold an active TigerCard, which are only available to active students, faculty, staff, and university affiliates. If you have questions, please contact the Access Office at (609) 258-5737 or email access@princeton.libanswers.com.

Firestone Library

The entrance hall of Firestone Library is open to the public. Anyone is welcome to visit the Milberg Gallery or Cotsen Children's Library during their open hours

Access to the collections at Firestone Library, including Special Collections and Marquand Library at Firestone, are open to visitors, but specific access options apply based on your institutional affiliation and/or collections that you will be working with. The Access Office has more limited hours than Firestone Library does, so please do make arrangements for your visit when the office is open.

Branch Libraries

Branch libraries are open to visitors when the buildings and libraries are open. There is no need to check in at the front desk. If you have questions about visitor access to a particular branch, please reach out to them directly.

Marquand Library at Firestone

Please note that most of the collections are off site. Email marquand@princeton.edu in advance to discuss your visit. Also note that Marquand’s operating hours differ from Firestone.
