Engineering, Lewis, Fine Hall to begin renovations January 2020

Lewis Library, 4th floor

In January 2020, Lewis Library’s Fine Hall Wing will temporarily close to undergo an extensive interior renovation and will anticipatedly reopen in mid-June 2020. The renovation of both the A and B floors of Fine Hall Wing will create a vibrant new space to house the Engineering Library and the Map and Geospatial Information Center.

The renovation will provide students with both collaborative and quiet study spaces, open book stacks for browsing, new staff work areas and service desk, and an instructional room with the latest technology. A new makerspace will open on the A floor of Lewis, just outside the elevators, serving the University community. It will support the exploration of virtual reality and video production technologies. The Map and Geospatial Information Center will move within the A floor of Fine Hall to a newly renovated space.

During this renovation, key services will be located in Lewis Science Library. The Map and Geospatial Information Center will be in the ‘Treehouse’ on the second floor. Most collections will be moved during the holiday recess in late December/early January. Throughout the construction, staff will retrieve items from the library collections upon request. The Engineering Library will remain in the Friend Center and relocate to the new space after commencement in 2020.
