Holdings information on booksets and serials
- Bound holdings for serials and booksets should continue to be recorded
in 866‡a, ‡x, ‡z in the appropriate MFHD in Cataloging
- Bound (or permanently held in the case of non-print materials) holdings
should be recorded in the 866‡a field
- Lacks notes should be recorded in the 866‡z field
- CURRENT ISSUES IN: notes should be recorded in the 866‡z field
- DESIGNATOR: notes should be recorded in the 866‡x field
- Other misc. public notes should be recorded in the 866‡z field
- Other misc. processing notes connected with the bound (permanent)
holdings should be recorded in the 866‡x field
- New Practice: Cumulative indexes should now be recorded in
the 868 field. This will be done for all newly added cumulative indexes.
We will gradually transfer previously recorded indexes to the 868 field
as records are updated.
- Checked in loose issues returned to location prior to binding:
There will be a public display of loose checked in issues until superseded
by permanent bound holdings.
